Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day!  Yes, I am a mother, a mommy, a mama, or whatever you would like to be called.  We hung out in PA at my mother in laws home.  She helps us with the kids alot so we drove up to her home for a change.  I remember last year I was talking to a friend of mine with 3 kids and she whispered to me that the best gift her kids could give her was to leave her alone for a few hours but they wanted to hang out with her of course because it was Mother's Day.  You know what I definitely understand.  I love my kids but today we went to a very nice brunch at the Pocono Manor in of course, The Poconos.  As I returned from the ladies room I could hear my 3 year speaking very loudly across the room "I'm hungry"  "Where's my mommy?" ""I want my food". Mother' s day is suppose to be relaxing, if anything I was little embarrassed that my kid was yelling across the room.  Plus, you would think we've never taken her to a restaurant and she's been to many.  Anyway, I say all this to say when we got home from PA, I told my husband I wanted 3 hours to myself, so I took all my stuff and went upstairs to our office.  Now, I feel relaxed because I'm not worried about my 10.5 month son pulling everything off the table or my 3 year old running away in the hotel lobby and laughing as I try and catch her in my 3 inch heels that are making my feet hurt.  I guess in 20 years when my baby & toddler are starting their careers and in college I'll savor these times but right now I' m enjoying the 60 minutes I have left to finish some work for Eden Organix.  Check you out later, and BTW if you are a mom ?  Happy Mother's Day it's the most rewarding unpaid job in the world, you deserve a hug today.

Organix to Give Customers a Luxury Spa Experience in an Environmentally-Friendly Way

 

HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. – April 24, 2008 - Eden Organix, a full-service spa and organic products store, is bringing its brand of environmentally-friendly leisure and luxury to downtown

Owner Valerie Mason-Robinson will open Eden Organix,

215 Raritan Avenue

, in late May. The store will feature a “green” spa that uses beauty and relaxation products that have little to no impact on the environment. An attached organic products shop will sell environmentally-friendly clothing, accessories, make-up handbags, health food and more.

 

“I’ve always wanted to open a spa, and I’ve been a closet environmentalist since I was eight years old,” said Mason-Robinson, a chemical engineer by trade. “I’m looking forward to opening Eden Organix because it really combines my love of science with my passion for making people happy.”

 

Guests who enter Eden Organix for the first time will be charmed by its sustainable bamboo flooring, organic linens and soothing color scheme, created with 100 percent non-toxic paints. Guests can choose from a variety of facials, makeovers and body treatments, such as the “masculine facial” and the “milk and honey” treatment.

 

Mason-Robinson hopes to use her business as a charitable outlet. She plans to donate 10 percent of the profits generated by Eden Organix to non-profit groups that help women, children and the environment.

Mason-Robinson grew up in the

Chicago

area, attended Illinois Institute of Technology and conducted lab research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The mother of two developed an interest in non-toxic skin care products when she discovered her children were allergic to certain materials. She’s been an environmentalist for decades, dating back to her days as an eight-year-old girl who annoyed her family with constant requests for them to recycle.

 

Robinson most recently worked at the Princeton Marriott, where she gained most of her experience in the spa industry. She is excited that she will now be able to devote all of her energy to her very own green business.

Taxes

Okay, today I did our business taxes.....whew I am definitely going to have to hire someone eventually.  Thank God for Turbotax Business!  It's such a learning experience to actually be starting your own company.  I did a lot of things in Corporate America and volunteer experiences to prepare me for this.  Sometimes it's a little overwhelming! Like now, I have 3 loads of clothes to fold, my baby is hollering, and I have to input some info for the website.  It's constant but I enjoy working for me and not "the man" whoever that is ?  Fortunately, my husband took my daughter with him so I don't have to manage all  of my kids.  Funny enough, my daughter grabs her mini laptop for toddlers and she says to me" Mommy I have to check my email!" then she proceeds to type away like she sees my husband and I doing constantly.  I thought about it 12-15 years ago everyone had a "pager' now those are obsolete,  think blackberry's and Iphones will be old news in 2018.
